Abstract:
Objective To investigate the short-term clinical outcome of laparoscopic thyroidectomy through oral vestibular approach.
Methods The clinical data of 149 patients, who underwent thyroidectomy from November 2017 to January 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. According to different surgical methods, the patients were divided into the laparoscopic thyroidectomy through oral vestibular approach group (oral group, 86 cases) and the traditional open surgery group (open group, 63 cases). Statistical analysis were performed by using SPSS22.0 software . The data of postoperative complications were examined by using χ2 test. Measurement data of various indexes during perioperative period were expressed as (±s), and were examined by using independent t test. Repeated measure ANOVA was used to compare PTH and serum calcium levels at different time point. A P value of <0.05 was considered as statistically significant difference.
Results All of operations were completed successfully in both two groups, in addition without conversion in the oral group. In terms of intraoperative bleeding, postoperative drainage volume, time of postoperative hospitalization, number of lymph nodes dissected, cosmetic satisfaction score, PTH and serum calcium level on 1, 3 and 7 days after surgery of the oral group were much better than those of the open group respectively (P<0.05). The incidence of complications of 7.0% in the oral group was much lower than 23.8% in the open group (P<0.05). Patients in both two groups were followed up for 6 months after surgery, whom without tumor recurrence or metastasis.
Conclusion Laparoscopic thyroidectomy through oral vestibular approach is safe and effective. Patients could recover quickly with better postoperative aesthetic effect, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
