Abstract:

For laparoscopic total gastrectomy, there is concern about the dificulty of extracorporeal gastrointestinal reconstruction through a mini abdominal incision. Several kinds of techniques using mechanical staplers have been reported to complete an intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy. Among them, the overlap method by using an linear stapler is favored because it facilitates handling of the stapler with a wider anastomosis stoma. Recently a new modified overlap method using knotless barbed sutures were reported. Now it has been a primary technology for totally laparoscopic total gastrectomy at our center.
