Reviews and prospects of laparoscopic surgery for right-sided colon cancer in China in the past two decades

Abstract:

In the past two decades, the development of laparoscopic surgery for right-sided colon cancer in China has experienced three stages, organ resection, blood vessel-oriented radical resection, and function-preserving radical surgery based on fascia anatomy. We have witnessed the technical exploration of laparoscopic right hemicolectomy, recognition of the anatomy, improvement of the concept of radical cancer surgery, changes in indications and progress in neoadjuvant therapy, and standardization of minimally invasive surgery and improvement of training systems. With the advancement of science and technology, laparoscopic surgery for right-sided colon cancer will become more standardized in China. It is believed that advances in precision surgery and comprehensive treatments will improve the prognoses of patients to a greater extent in the future.
