Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the clinical effect of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) in obesity with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).

Methods

A total of 60 obese patients from January 2019 to January 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. According to T2DM or not, the patients were divided in to the T2DM group(30 cases) and non-T2DM group(30 cases); Both groups received LSG. SPSS24.0 statistical software was used for data analyzing. The changes of body weight, blood lipid, blood glucose and other indicators were expressed as mean±standard deviation (±s), and independent t test was performed. P<0.05 indicated statistically significant difference.

Results

The body weight, BMI, waist and hip circumferences of two groups were decreased, at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after surgery, they showed a downward trend, but two groups of patients had no statistical difference in the degree of changes in above indicators(P>0.05); the levels of FBG(≤6.9 mmol/L) and HbA1c(<7.0%) in T2DM group at 3 months after operation were significantly reduced as like the normal level(P<0.05); the efficacy evaluation indexes such as HOMA-IR and fasting insulin in two groups were lower than those before operation (P<0.05). The levels of CHOL, TC and LDL-C in two groups were significantly lower than those before operation, and decreased with time at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after operation, while HDL-C was higher than that before operation, and increased with time(P<0.05); there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).

Conclusion

LSG treatment is safe, reliable, and effective for obesity with T2DM, that not only significantly reduces the weight, but also improves or cures T2DM, which can be promoted.
