The research progress of ostomy-related complications

Abstract:

Ostomy makes complicated situation more simple, which is accord with the modern damage control surgery theory. Ileostomy or colostomy creation is utilized in the management of a variety of benign and malignant medical conditions. As the number of cases increases, it is common to find the cases of ostomy-related complications. This article will review the research progress of ostomy-related complications, such as peristomal skin complications, retraction, stomal necrosis, stomal stenosis, prolapse, bleeding, dehydration from high ostomy output, and parastomal hernia.
