The effect of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the efficacy and safety of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome, and to provide a feasible new method for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome.

Methods

Retrospective analysis of medical history of 13 patients who had polycystic ovary syndrome and underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in the People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from January 2015 to December 2017 was performed. Telephone follow-up was conducted at the time of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year after the surgery, the changes of menstruation, skin, hair, sex hormones and etc were investigated.

Results

No complications occurred in 13 cases. The symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome were relieved in different degrees after the surgery.

Conclusion

Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a safe and effective method for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome.
